friday five.

1. T & I planned a little staycation for the week of 4th of July this year. He can't take an entire week off from work right now, so we rented a house on Folly Beach for the week and we'll just come home to it after work until the work week ends that Wednesday. It's a little one bedroom cottage a block from the beach with a big shady patio. I don't think it gets much better than that. I plan on doing a whole bunch of nothing and enjoying every single second of it.

2. I am a big fan of the Aztec skirt trend I'm seeing everywhere this year. The bright colors are perfect for spring and summer and paired with a flowy tank, it makes a perfect, easy summer outfit. And paired with a punchy blazer, it becomes work appropriate but far from boring.
And I say that not because I'm worried about showing my shoulders at the office-I say that because my office is so frigid,  I literally have to turn on my space heater at my desk in the summer.

3. I'm a little late to the party but I am on a HUGE quinoa kick lately. It started with my fellow Mexican food loving friend Paula's AMAZING healthy twist on Mexican and now I can't stop. I want to cook with it every night. These little spinach-feta quinoa cakes may have to be next on the list.

4. And to negate out all the benefits of the quinoa, I think I need to make these little guys for my next party. Miniature chicken and waffles! Don't these just look amazing? Now I just need an excuse to throw a party. Or do I?

 5. All I want right now is a giant bunch of peonies for my cocktail table. And while everyone and their mother is posting the beautiful blooms they are scoring all over Instagram {and yes, I'm bitter}, the only ones I can find are sad and a little busted looking. And I'm not paying $6 a flower for a busted looking peony. I'm willing to spend the money, but only if they look as pretty as these.
